Regal doll

13" Eskimo doll From: Date: Sun, Sep 16, 2001, 6:51am To: Subject: Re: Vintage Eskimo Doll in Fur and Leather

Item # 1266832277 Elizabeth,

Hi. There's is not much I can tell you regarding the Eskimo doll. She came to me with a lot of vintage Fisher Price toys(that's what I collect). But according to the seller, which was the granddaughter of the original owner, the little doll was a gift to her grandmother from her uncle(the grandmother's son)when he went to work on the Alaskan Pipeline. Going by the age of the granddaughter and her uncle, I would say this was probably during the mid to late 1960's. There's also the possibility that she was purchased in Canada(at an airport?)because in the original tissue paper was an envelope with some Canadian change(nickle, dime and pennies). I'm unsure of the grandmother's first name but I believe her last name was Bartell or Bartelli or some spelling similar and I know she lived in the Chicago area for many years. Hope this helps with the the little doll's history, sounds like a fun and interesting quest you've set upon. Good Luck :-))

Take Care, Nancy

by Regal, Canada. The arms and legs are jointed. It has dark hair, big bright eyes, dimples and a dimpled chin. The hood is fur lined as is the jacket sleeves and bottom. The jacket and pants are made of suede/leather

These were on exhibit at the headquarters of the United Federation of Doll Clubs in Kansas City, MO summer 2002. They are the Dionne Quintuplets, Annette, Emilie, Yvonne, Cecile and Marie. These are probably Madam Alexander dolls.

The little Mountie in red is a typical tourist doll. Many were made in Hong Kong rather than Canada. This is a collection that was on display summer 2002 at the United Federation of Doll Clubs in Kansas City, MO.

Dolls of the World

I have just begun this page to share information about my own new international doll collection and to organize data about dolls of the world.

Contribute to my page, please. I set out to add a penpal from every country in the world several years ago, just as I am now aiming for a complete survey of dolls from every country. If you have a favorite memory of a souvenir doll please share and I will incorporate your comments under the appropriate country.

To me this is a way to travel the world without leaving home, though in fact it seems to be leading to plans for a trip around the world in my future.
